Summary:
The Northern Cape Economic Development, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency hereby invites proposals from potential operating partners and investors to partner with the community in developing the land in to a viable/commercial agri-business.
The project concerns a rural community for the restitution of rights under Restitution of Land Rights Act (Act 22 of 1994). The community of Droogfontein farm lived on the farm for more than three decades.The Droogfontein farm is situated approximately 15km North of Kimberley on the N12 road. The size of the farm is approximately 11000ha:
The 11,000ha is divided as follows:
- 500ha developed for irrigation
- 10,500ha for grazing
The beneficiaries of this farm are currently planting the following crops:
- Vegetables at commercial level
- Wheat, barley and lucerne at large scale
- The farm has a potential for the production of high value crops, like pecan nuts at large scale, citrus, table grapes at small scale.
