Project Name

Motwenene Empowerment Project

Project Description

Motwenene aims to recycle used tyres in the Western Frontier SDI. This project will be able to provide the market with products that that spans the following range: crumb, granule, buffings dust, and garden mulch.

Location

Mafikeng – Western Frontier SDI

Project Rationale

Motwenene project through its founding member has researched the industry and conducted a feasibility study to determine the merit of pursuing this opportunity. As a campaigner for the preservation of the environment, the founding members realized that the degradation of the environment, through dumping, burning of old tyres is not friendly to the environment. Buried tryres do not break down easily which causes ground instability and have a tendency to resurface later through ground movement such as soil erosion.

Burnt tyres release toxic gases into the atmosphere which contribute to problems such as climatic changes and global warming. A viable option therefore appears to be recycling which extend the life of rubber to the benefit of the environment.
