Tourism & Leisure
Given the current lack of development within the tourism sector in Lesotho, the Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC) would like to invite developers/hotel owners/operators to partake in an exciting hospitality investment/development opportunity within the Kingdom of Lesotho. This opportunity is located on an extensive piece of land (approximately 140 hectares) near the northern Lesotho border crossing of Caledonspoort.
Providing spectacular mountain scenery and the perfect stage for a wide range of outdoor holiday activities, Lesotho offers its visitors the opportunity to enjoy its rugged beauty and experience the warm hospitality shown by the inhabitants of the Mountain Kingdom. The wild landscape, surrounded by the towering Maluti and Drakensberg mountains, Lesotho is the perfect destination to truly getaway from the pressures of life. Whether one enjoys Lesotho under the bright summer skies or wrapped in a blanket of winter snow, it is perfect for a family holiday destination.
Lesotho allows visitors from all over the chance to explore an environment still largely unscarred by excess development and devoid of the throngs of tourists often found in other tourism attractions across the border in South Africa.
Whether looking for a peaceful retreat, a unique team-building getaway or an outdoor adventure-filled holiday with the family, Lesotho is perfect for all these holiday ideas. With an increasing awareness of the importance of tourism as a socio-economic driver of Lesotho’s economy and strong growth in recent years in international arrivals, the Lesotho government is showing strong support for tourism development and investment in the country. The government offers numerous incentives and general flexibility in an effort to create a profitable investment and development environment.
An indicative operational feasibility study has been conducted on the new site at Caledonspoort and potential concepts for the site have been created, taking into account the location, site size, potential target markets, regional & local competitors and the needs of the surrounding communities. We are now inviting formal expressions of interest from potential development partners who, if short-listed, will be invited to discuss the opportunity directly with the LNDC. Final date of submission for expressions of interest is the 11 June 2010 and no late entries will be accepted.
Please contact the LNDC’s partners responsible for dealing with enquiries and evaluating expressions of interest for further information:
