Caravelle Automotive Carpets
Caravelle Automotive Carpets is a division of Feltex Automotive Group which has headquarters in Midrand, Johannesburg. The company, which is the largest overlay manufacturer in the southern hemisphere, is wholly owned by the Feltex Group. Caravelle produces tufted overlay carpets for the automotive industry, an item previously imported. It utilises raw material produced by sister company Feltex Futuris, which is also located in the zone. About 60% of the East London production will be exported.
Molan Pino South Africa
Molan Pino is a Spanish company which has five manufacturing plants, four of which are in Europe, and the last one at the ELIDZ in South Africa. It manufactures semi rigid, low density, high impact components for the automotive industries and was the first EPP (expanded poly prop) plant in South Africa to supply
the local automotive market. Molan Pino believes locating to the zone will facilitate growth in product range and volumes.
TI Automotive
German company TI Automotive is the only global supplier of fully integrated fuel storage and delivery systems for cars and trucks. It is the leading supplier of fluid-carrying systems for braking and powertrain applications to automakers worldwide. It will manufacture brake and fuel lines to Mercedes Benz as well as to six OEMs based in South Africa. The TI Group has expanded its South African operations by investing in the TI Tanks division. Both divisions operate independently from adjoining buildings in the East London IDZ’s Automotive Supplier Park. Its South African head office is also located in East London.
Bigfoot Express Freight
The 14-year old KwaZulu-Natal based logistics company specialises in overnight express deliveries to all major centres and offers
tailor-made solutions to its customers’ distribution needs. Its five depots are located in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg, Durban and East London. The East London IDZ is to build custom designed premises for the company in Zone 1D. It is the second logistics company to be based in the zone.
