Inner city renewal, brand new beachfront developments and a general improvement in infrastructure throughout the region have laid the groundwork for the development of tourism investment opportunities at Nelson Mandela Bay.

Beachfront node development
Numerous developments along the Nelson Mandela Bay coastline are being planned to improve the quality of the various beachfront nodes for environmental reasons as well as for residents and tourists. This opens the door for investors interested in tourism and leisure developments, from hotels and resorts, to conference centres, tour companies, car rentals and other down-the-line opportunities. Hotel investment boom
The construction of the R320-million five-star hotel in Nelson Mandela Bay’s beachfront has begun and is due for completion in 2008. Investment is still being sought in this and other similar hotel developments in the region, as well as in the various down-the-line opportunities that will present themselves on completion of the various projects. Inner city renewal
The redevelopment of the main road through Port Elizabeth CBD is at the centre of a concerted effort to renew the look of Port Elizabeth and the Nelson Mandela Metro. Similarly ambitions have been held for various buildings within the city that have lost the charming appeal of age to become somewhat dilapidated and depressing. To restore this culture and history would be to invigorate the present investment landscape and give the city a fresher and more appealing face to present to potential investors.
