Saldanha Bay is traditionally a west coast fishing village, though the Port of Saldanha has always been the source of the majority of the investment in the region. This continues today, most recently with investment in the Saldanha Fabrication Facility. And it is investments such as these that are growing the property market, as increases in employment grow residential demand.

Middle income property developments are going up, and filling up, fast, and still at reasonable rates, with a luxury development promised for the future as well, as Saldanha takes its lead from successful west coast tourist locations such as Langebaan.

The buy-to-let market is proving particularly profitable at the moment, with opportunities still available for property investors hoping to catch onto the boom. And as long as industrial development in the region remains attractive, so will the property boom continue to do just that.

The industrial development in the region has no doubt been the catalyst to this sudden growth, but the property market in Saldanha has, over the past nine years, doubled in value every three. This is an illustration that the boom should not be a once-off trend, and in fact the market is sustainable and a viable investment option.
