Project Description:
The concept of the project is to develop the City of Matlosana, the Birth Place of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, as a global tourism destination.

Location:
Matlosana/Klerksdorp – Neserhoff, approximately 3km off the N12 Treasure Route

Project Rationale:
Archbishop Desmond Tutu, an international icon and 2010 World Cup Soccer ambassador, was born in Klerksdorp/Matlosana.

Tutu rose to prominence internationally as a fierce opponent of apartheid and in 1984 became only the second South African to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The city council have donated the piece of land to the Matlosana Anglican Diocese and assisted in compiling a feasibility study, economic impact study, heritage management plan and a promising business plan.

± R 57-million

Funding Requirements:
Construction of the centre which will include the following business units: IT Call Centre, Dual Auditorium to seat 1 000 people, skills development and SMME Support Centre, High Tech Interactive Museum, Restaurant, Chapel, Rectory for the Diocese, Old Age Home. 100%.

Return on investment projections:
The return on investment for the Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu tourism project is expected to be between 9 & 16%. Detailed figures and projections are available on request for each Business Unit mentioned.
