Project description:
The development of un-utilised council land
Location:
Along the N12 Treasure Route - the Goudkoppie Heritage Hill 2010 Legacy Project
Project rationale:
Based on a successful feasibility and business study, and a lot of passion, a consortium of local architects, business people, project managers and property developers have collaborated and presented a property development plan to the municipal council. Upon consideration, the council has agreed to make land available for development to address the needs of the community and local economy.
The project will be based around the Goudkoppie natural heritage site and will cater for developments to the tourism, retail, hospitality, media, SMME, sports and education sectors. The business model is flexible and designed to empower, enrich and stimulate the local community of Matlosana, and at the same time make it a competitive destination for attracting investment.
The Goudkoppie 2010 Legacy Project will add value to thousands of people’s lives in Matlosana. It promises to encourage and assist large mining houses with a solution to true beneficiation of the region's natural resources which are currently not adding value to the lives of the people.
Project value and funding requirements:
R909-million
Return on investment projections:
Detailed figures for each business unit are available on request, but initial projections are between 8% and 12%. Part of the project will be sustained by the business units.
