iLembe District Municipality is offering interested parties the opportunity to invest in a biodiesel processor.
Project summary
The biodiesel processor project involves the planning, construction and operation of a sustainable, community-based rural biodiesel production facility. The programme will enable community members with access to small plots of land to participate in a district-wide programme.
Community participation
Community participation in the programme will take the following forms:
- The planting and supplying of raw coconut or palm oil nuts to a centralised biodiesel manufacturing plant at a contracted price
- Access to the biodiesel production unit byproducts at nominal costs
- Assistance with the further processing of these byproducts for resale
- Active participation in the construction
of the biodiesel processor unit
- Active participation in the operation of the biodiesel production unit
