The agriculture and tourism sectors in the Cederberg Local Municipality are the main contributors to GDP in the region, as well as to employment and social development. These sectors, strong as they are in themselves, are also now driving secondary economic growth through the development of SMMEs and down-stream enterprises that are reaping the spin-off benefits of these established sectors.

Regarding agriculture, orange farming and the cultivation of South Africa's world famous Rooibos tea are the main products of the region. With a steady demand for these, both locally and internationally, there are opportunities for further development within these, in packaging, distribution and transport especially.

Tourism in the Cederberg is a wide-ranging sector, with the region lucky enough to have spectacular mountain ranges as well as a piece of coastline that is beautiful in its own rugged way and is dotted with traditional fishing villages renowned for their west coast charm, and superb seafood experiences. Opportunities in the tourism sector extend to accommodation options, adventure-activities and other related products and services such as restaurants and tour-guiding companies.

For more information on opportunities in these and other sectors contact the Cederberg Local Municipality directly:
