The land is owned by the Lesedi Local Municipality, as part of the remaining extent of Portion 5 of the farm Langlaagte. The site is currently vacant. Suggestions for the development of the site received thus far have include for an hotel, a retail facility, office space, and various tourism facilities to support the heritage sites in the area such as the Anglo-Boer War graves. The opportunity is situated in the southern quadrant of the N3 interchange between Heidelberg and Bergsig, north of the railway line and approximately 1.2km east of Heidelberg CBD. Due to its location at the Heidelberg-Nigel Road and N3 freeway interchange, the land enjoys excellent regional and national accessibility, and is also highly visible to passing traffic. Development on the land is intended to create job opportunities for the local communities.
