The South African arm of oil refining giant Chevron has reassured that it remains committed in the long-term to expanding its business in South Africa, and also in the wider Southern African region.
The reassurance followed reports that Chevron’s refinery in Milnerton, in Cape Town, could be sold off as it shifted its focus to the Asia Pacific region.
“Our Cape Town refinery forms a strategic part of the critical infrastructure requirements needed to support our value chain,” said Chevron SA spokesperson Haymish Paulse, in an interview with Engineering News.
“We have no announcements to make regarding our refining portfolio and will not speculate on future plans,” added Paulse.
