State-owned power supplier Eskom has said that it is currently in negotiations with potential suppliers for its proposed wind farm, which is to be built near Koekenaap in the Western Cape.

"It is expected that these negotiations will end at the end of October. Thereafter, evaluations will be done and a report will be submitted to the Board Tender Committee for approval," said the company in a press statement.

The proposed wind farm would have an initial capacity of 100 MW, but this is expected to double to 200 MW and would have the ability to store renewable energy to be used during peak times in the evenings.
