China becomes SA’s top export destination

The Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) data shows that in the first half of 2009, China was South Africa’s top export destination with huge annual growth of 53.9%.

China has overtaken Japan, the United States and Germany as the top export market. China took 11.9% of total South African exports, while the US took 8.3% and Japan 7.5%.

On the other side, China is now the biggest import market, overtaking Germany, according to the latest DTI statistics.
