CPI back within 3-6% range
Wed, 24 Mar 2010 12:17

Consumer inflation has dropped to 5.7% year-on-year, which is the lowest level it has been in three years.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) was at 0.6% on a monthly basis in February, against 0.3% in January.

Most economists see the South African Reserve Bank maintaining the current lending rates and data on Tuesday showed consumer demand is starting to pick up.

Fuel prices could increase about 6% next month, while power prices are due to climb 25% later this year
