Fri, 14 Dec 2007 17:27

The Eastern Cape municipality has been recognised for its dedication to local economic development and service delivery

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality scooped two 2007 Vuna Awards in December - for Local Economic Development (LED) and Service Delivery.

Not resting on any laurels

Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr Bicks Ndoni, said that he was thrilled that the municipality had been honoured for these important developmental priorities.

'Local Economic Development and Service Delivery, for any Municipality, is of paramount importance. As the political leadership we have squarely focused on these two areas, addressing their challenges, and coming up with innovative ways to achieve our objectives. We are glad that our peers have recognised our efforts.'

Cllr Ndoni magnanimously continued, 'I would also like to take the opportunity to congratulate all the other municipalities on the awards that they received. Winning these awards will not make us sit on our laurels; but indeed will inspire us to work all that more harder to ensure a better life for all.'
