A 2010 business information desk at the Durban Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) is set to open opportunities to KwaZulu-Natal businesses looking to profit out of the World Cup showpiece. Zama Mncwabe, appointed by eThekwini City Manger Mike Sutcliffe to head the service, said the establishment of the desk earlier this year would facilitate information on opportunities for local businesses ahead of and during the 2010 soccer World Cup.
Mncwabe said while she reported directly to the city manger and the CEO of the chamber, she would also work closely with the Durban Investment Promotion Agency and the municipality's 2010 work streams. She said she was in the process of establishing contact with work-stream leaders to get an understanding of their strategies.
