

In the past six years the Gauteng Economic Development Agency has attracted investment worth R70-billion to the country, created more than 120 000 jobs and a plethora of business opportunities for local and foreign investors. In his overview in the 2005/06 annual report, Gauteng Finance and Economic Affairs MEC Paul Mashatile said the province would continue to rely on the agency to consolidate Gauteng’s strategic position as a gateway to Africa.
GEDA CEO Keith Khoza said that in the year under review they had refocused the business to ensure effective smart access for business into the continent having conceptualised and accelerated projects focusing on SMME development, local economic development, the BBBEE provincial score card, the Innovation Hub, the Gauteng Film Office and business outsourcing. In 2006 GEDA hosted inward missions from China, Abu Dhabi, India, Indonesia, Korea, Kenya, Nigeria and Canada; and outward missions to countries including Sweden,
Spain, Brazil, UK, Botswana and China.
