TFCA 2010: Tourism Investment Conference

Aimed at the regional and international investment community, the conference was inspired by the vision of sharing the benefits of hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa with the region through a concerted effort of promoting and developing southern Africa’s Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs) in a sustainable way. It is an initiative of the governments of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
 
A portfolio of 40 individual investment projects within the TFCAs has been identified for development by 2010, which will be showcased to potential investors at the above conference. These projects are prime investment opportunities – exclusively in the tourism hospitality and leisure sector – geared towards making the TFCAs more accessible to tourists and thereby increasing the tourism potential of the region.
 
By way of background, 'Boundless Southern Africa' is the marketing brand launched at the 2008 Tourism Indaba in Durban by nine southern African countries to represent some of the best tourism products the region has to offer: the Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs). It combines world-famous natural attractions such as the Victoria Falls, the Ukahlamba-Drakensberg, the Okavango Delta, Fish River Canyon, national parks, deserts and rivers systems all situated within the seven TFCAs that stretch across the borders of Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
